We Accept Health Insurance

Preventive care is intended to help you stay as healthy as possible. It is considered routine health care that includes screenings, checkups, and patient counseling to help prevent illnesses, disease, or other health problems and is often covered with no copay, coinsurance, or deductible. We bill insurance for nutritional counseling under preventative care.

We are providers with the insurance companies listed below. We have provided an overview of coverage, but your plan could vary, so it is important to verify coverage before your appointment. We are happy to check those benefits for you as a courtesy! Have your subscriber ID available when you call or email in to schedule an appointment.

We can also provide a super bill for any client not covered by the plans below, so you can submit it to your insurance and see if they will reimburse you.

Do I need a referral?

If you are covered by Medicare or Medicaid (see the descriptions of what is covered to the right), you will need a referral. Most other plans do not require a referral, but we may need information such as a diagnosis code from a recent doctor’s visit chart note or lab results from the past year. Having these documents can often help maximize your insurance coverage. You will be able to upload these documents to your account or have them faxed to us once you have been scheduled.

AETNA

Under preventative services, many Aetna plans offer 10 appointments for healthy diet counseling. There is additional coverage under preventative services for overweight, obesity, and diabetes with documentation from your PCP.

BCBS

BCBS plans may provide full coverage for nutritional counseling, often with little to no copay and your deductible will not apply. Number of sessions can vary and we are happy to look into what your plan will cover. We are not in network with Blue Local and Blue Home plans as these are closed networks.

CIGNA

Most Cigna plans offer 3 visits under preventative care. Additional coverage may be available. Your RD will work with you to determine if you have additional coverage.

MEDICAID

We are providers with WellCare, Healthy Blue, Carolina Complete, and Medicaid Direct (Original Medicaid). A referral is required to bill services to Medicaid for pediatric clients. Adults are only covered when it is related to pregnancy.

MEDICARE

Medicare covers medical therapy for diabetes and chronic kidney disease. A referral from your provider is required for us to bill any Medicare plan.

Medicost

Most plans provide full coverage for nutritional counseling, often with little to no copay and your deductible will not apply. Number of sessions can vary and we are happy to look into what your plan will cover.
