We Accept Health Insurance
Preventive care is intended to help you stay as healthy as possible. It is considered routine health care that includes screenings, checkups, and patient counseling to help prevent illnesses, disease, or other health problems and is often covered with no copay, coinsurance, or deductible. We bill insurance for nutritional counseling under preventative care.
We are providers with the insurance companies listed below. We have provided an overview of coverage, but your plan could vary, so it is important to verify coverage before your appointment. We are happy to check those benefits for you as a courtesy! Have your subscriber ID available when you call or email in to schedule an appointment.
We can also provide a super bill for any client not covered by the plans below, so you can submit it to your insurance and see if they will reimburse you.
We Accept These Insurance Providers
BCBS
Your plan may provide full coverage for nutritional counseling, often with little to no copay and your deductible will not apply. Number of sessions can vary and we are happy to look into what your plan will cover.
We are not in network with Blue Local and Blue Home plans as these are closed networks.
Aetna
Under preventative services, many Aetna plans offer 10 appointments for healthy diet counseling. There is additional coverage under preventative services for overweight, obesity, and diabetes with a doctor’s referral.
Some plans have medical coverage for nutrition counseling for other chronic disease states (e.g., diabetes mellitus, eating disorders, gastro-intestinal disorders, hypertension, kidney disease, seizures (i.e., ketogenic diet), and other conditions) in which dietary adjustment has a therapeutic role, when it is prescribed by a physician. We must have a referral from your medical provider with a diagnosis code to file under medical coverage. This can be faxed to 704-680-6672. Deductibles, copays, or coinsurance may apply, please call and check on your plan’s specific coverage.
Cigna
Luminare and Meritian with Aetna or Cigna
Your plan may provide full coverage for nutritional counseling, often with little to no copay, and your deductible will not apply.
Medicare
We are providers with Medicare and BCBS, Aetna, and Cigna Advantage plans.
Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy for diabetes and chronic kidney disease. A referral from your provider is required for us to bill any Medicare plan.
Most medicare supplemental plans do not offer coverage beyond what medicare covers. However, there are exceptions and we would be happy to check on your plan.
Medicaid
We are providers with WellCare, Healthy Blue, Carolina Complete, and Medicaid Direct (Original Medicaid). A referral is required to bill services to Medicaid for pediatric clients.
